Gmail uses the POP3 email standard to retrieve email from our i3c email server.Gmail-webmail-Reading-and-replying-your-i3c-hostedemails-from-Gmailwebmail
// Switching to secure Imap (IMAPs) for i3c mail services
In order to make our mail services more reliable and secure, we are modifying how your email client software such as Outlook/Thunderbird/Gmail will be able to authenticate with our email servers.
We shall be adding IMAPS and POP3S protocols on standard ports 993 and 995 respectively to our system. These secure protocol implement SSL/TSL encryption schemes, so you’re emails will always be secure as they traverse the internet. Over time, we shall slowly phase out IMAP and POP3 currently running on ports 143 and 110 respectively.
We are also going to enforce SMTPS, a more secure protocol implementing SSL/TSL encryption used to relay email between email client and email servers will also be up on port 465.
